Letter: Facts matter

Michael Moffett’s attack on educators and journalists in his review of an article about Hannah Duston is a display of his vast ignorance of history and facts, disguised as scholarly musing. Hannah Duston was born in a colony of Great Britain, making her as much a British subject as if born in London. Mr. Moffett might want to note that the colonies became independent 119 year later.

Further, he should actually read the First Amendment to our Constitution rather than mischaracterizing the clear statement regarding separation of church and state, ergo, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.” Clearly, it is Mr. Moffett who would benefit from some remedial education.
