$10,000 worth of racing equipment stolen from boy

Wednesday, August 16, 2017

Police are searching for the culprit who stole thousands of dollars’ worth of racing equipment from a 12-year-old boy.

Mason Prouty’s family discovered the trailer housing his go-kart was missing Sunday afternoon when they visited the Claremont parking lot they kept it in. According to police, another trailer was also taken from the same area around the same time.

Mason’s mother, Tracy Prouty, says the family lost about $10,000 in equipment. Prouty says she and her husband have dedicated everything to help their son become a NASCAR driver.

The Proutys say their son will be able to finish this racing season with help from fellow racers. However, the family says next season is not guaranteed.
