Between the proposed spending sprees of the Concord City Council and the Concord School Board, soon the only people who will be living in Concord will be the wealthy and the homeless. According to one city councilor, the proposed new police station (and attendant costs) will cost roughly $60 million, adding $1,500 of property taxes to a $350,000 home! Add to that the proposed millions the Council plans to spend on a new Golf Clubhouse at Beaver Meadow.

Most outrageous of all, the Concord School Board plans to spend an estimated $176 million for a new middle school. What mind-bending amount of additional property taxes will this middle school project dump on the Concord taxpayer? I can only call this fiscal insanity. I urge the citizens of Concord to contact their city councilor and their school board members and demand that these out-of-control building projects be eliminated or massively scaled back. I love living in Concord but I would dearly love to be able to afford to live here.
