Golf result

Tim O’Meara and Doug Frazier won the two ball best ball event at Concord Country Club with a 14-under score of 56. In addition to the 56, three teams shot 58 to tie for second place. The teams were Bill McAvoy and Tim O’Meara, Fred Hast and Bob Rougier and Tony Hartigan and Norm West.

Youth baseball

Sean Morin threw a complete-game four-hitter to lead Weare Post 65 to a 5-1 win over Manchester Jutras Post at Gill Stadium. Morin gave up one run and struck out two. Cole Hapgood went 2-3 with an RBI triple while playing a strong game at shortstop. Jake Cole went 2-for-4 while Noah Greene and Taylor Hughes each had RBI hits for Weare.

Events

The Concord City A Tennis Tournament continues at 5:30 Tuesday with Jason Hall playing Peter Rouvalis, and first round doubles begins with Alic and Constantin facing Jerry Kingwill and Ken Moulton.

The annual CHS Baseball Golf Tournament will be held on Friday at Beaver Meadow Golf Course with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Cost is $100 per player. Contact Scott Owen at sowen@sau8.org for more information.

Concord High boys’ soccer alumni game will be played Aug. 18 at 5 p.m. at Rundlett Middle School. All past players are welcome. Any questions should be sent to Scott Dunlop at scottdunlop28@yahoo.com.

Granite State Open golf tournament will be hosted by Loudon Country Club on Aug. 28 to benefit veterans. Cost to enter is $150 per team. Over $3,000 in prizes are up for grabs. Call the pro shop at 783-3372 for more details.

Camps/Clinics/Lessons

Capital City Vipers annual football and cheer camp will take place Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Broken Ground School. Any athlete wanting to learn more about football and cheer is encouraged to sign up. The cost is $45. Each athlete receives a t-shirt after signing up. Contact ccvipers@gmail.com.

The Pembroke Rec tennis lessons are being offered at Pembroke Academy on Mondays and Wednesdays starting this Wednesday and running through Aug. 3. Rain dates will be on Thursdays. Forms are available at the Pembroke Town Hall and should be turned in by Monday. The cost is $35 for residents and $45 for non-residents. Tryouts/Registrations

Concord Capitols football and cheer registration for grades K-8 will be held on Tuesday and July 19 at 5:30 p.m. at Martin Field on Iron Works Rd. in Concord. Teams are grade based with no weight limits. Football conditioning and skills sessions will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at Martin Field from 6-7:30 p.m., beginning this Tuesday. NH Lady Cannons softball club will hold tryouts for the 2016 fall season and the 2017 summer season. Tryouts for 12U and 14U will be held on July 26 6-8 p.m. at the Concord Sport Center. Tryouts for 16U and 18U will be held on July 27 at the Concord Sport Center 6- 8 p.m. There is a $25 dollar tryout fee for all players. NH Comets ASA softball team will be holding tryouts for the 2016-17 season on the following dates and times: July 26 at 5:30 p.m. for 10U, 12U and 14U; Aug. 2, 5:30 p.m., for 16U and 18U; Aug. 6, for 10U at 9 a.m., 12U at 10:30 a.m., 14U at 12:30 p.m., 16U and 18U at 2 p.m. Tryouts will be held at Hanson Park on Albin Road in Bow.

Merrimack Valley High School will hold tryouts in the following sports in the dates that follow: Football: Equipment handout Aug. 8-9; first day of practice on Aug. 10. Boys’ and girls’ soccer, field hockey, cross country, spirit, golf and bass fishing: Aug. 15, 8 a.m. on each of the teams’ respective fields.

Merrimack Valley Middle School fall sports dates are as follows: Football: Aug. 17 from 5-7 p.m. Tryouts for soccer, cross-country and field hockey: Aug. 30, from 2:45-4:30 p.m. Spirit tryouts: Aug. 30 at 5 p.m. The above times are subject to change, so be sure to check the MVMS Athletics website during the summer for any updates.

Concord High fall sports registration can be done by signing into your PowerSchool Parent account at ps.sau8.org. Once logged into PowerSchool, click the “Athletic Registration” link in the left menu. Registrations should be done as soon as possible.
