Embattled state Rep. Kyle Tasker was released from jail Monday but is being monitored electronically, according to an official at the Rockingham County Department of Corrections.

The 30-year-old from Nottingham, who was arrested last week on drug and attempted sexual exploitation charges, was released on $50,000 cash bail with an electronic ankle bracelet, the official said.

Tasker was arraigned last Tuesday in Candia’s district court and was being held on $250,000 cash. No bail hearings were scheduled at that time.

A court spokeswoman confirmed Monday that a hearing was held earlier in the day, but could not verify whether Tasker was released.

Tasker’s attorney did not respond to requests for comment, and a phone number for Tasker went straight to voicemail.

Tasker, a three-term Republican and now-former member of the House Children and Family Law Committee, is accused of using a Facebook account to lure a 14-year-old girl into a sexual encounter. He faces four felonies in all, including three drug charges relating to a trove of marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms police said they found in his home. He is not accused of having physical contact with the girl.

House Speaker Shawn Jasper has called for Tasker to resign.
