Bishop Brady graduate Brendan Johnson, of Weare, caught a deep pass with a one-handed grab on Saturday for the Endicott College football team. He caught some national exposure as well.

Johnson’s catch was featured on ESPN’s top plays on Sunday. On Monday, D3football.com ranked it the top play of the weekend.

The play kept the Gulls’ comeback hopes alive in a 4th and 10 situation with less than two minutes to go against Bridgewater State. Endicott quarterback Joe Kalosky let loose a 51-yard throw toward Johnson, who was bogged down in double coverage. But Johnson’s long reach was enough as he pulled the ball in with his right hand and secured it as he fell to the turf.

Endicott (1-1) finished the drive with Sheilan Velazquez’s 31-yard reception in the end zone as time expired, narrowly edging Bridgewater, 29-28.

Johnson, a sophomore at Endicott, played quarterback for four years at Bishop Brady and spent a post-grad year at Holderness School.
