NH Audubon announced at its Annual Meeting on Sept. 16, the following 2023 conservation award winners: Tudor Richards Award – Karen Bennett of Antrim, Goodhue-Elkins Award – George W. Gavutis Jr. of Kensington, John Thalheimer Volunteer Award – Sandra Bowles of Bow.

ConvenientMD, an urgent care provider, has announced a pledge to donate $1 for every free flu shot administered during the month of October. Each of its 40 urgent clinics and four primary care offices across New England will be donating to a local charity that serves each of the communities served by ConvenientMD. The ConvenientMD Urgent Care location in Concord has selected The Friendly Kitchen to receive its donation. Flu shots are free for all patients.

The Northeast Resource Recovery Association (NRRA) engaged Coös County solid waste management stakeholders, including Transfer Station operators and town leaders, to better understand the construction and demolition debris (C&D) diversion and reuse landscape in the most rural areas of New Hampshire. With support from the US Environmental Protection Agency Region 1, New England, 2022 Healthy Communities Grant, NRRA connected with 21 unique towns, partnerships, and a solid waste district through a series of C&D roundtable summits, site visits, and the completion of a C&D diversion and reuse pilot program and audit. NRRA has been awarded a subsequent EPA Healthy Communities Grant to expand C&D diversion work to the North Country, with a continued focus on rural communities north of the notches.
