Canterbury police investigating string of burglaries

Monday, November 28, 2016

Canterbury and New Hampshire state police are investigating several burglaries reported over the weekend.

Both departments responded to a burglary in process Saturday in the area of Boyce Road. Canterbury police said the homeowner was in the residence at the time, and when the suspect knocked on the front door, the owner didn’t answer after not recognizing the visitor.

Police said the suspect got inside the home but fled after realizing someone was home. The suspect was described by police as a heavy-set male wearing a camouflage jacket, and though a state police K-9 unit checked the area, no suspect was found.

Shortly after this first incident, both law enforcement agencies and the Bow Police Department responded to another reported burglary in the area of Southwest Road, where police said a home was broken into.

Canterbury police said it has responded to two other reported attempted burglaries in the same area. Investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call Canterbury police at 783-0433 or state police at 223-4381.
