Crews rescue ‘totally inexperienced’ kayakers

Five kayakers have been rescued from a New Hampshire river, with officials saying they were “totally inexperienced” in kayaking, necessitating a rescue.

Rescue workers were called after the teenagers from Manchester called 911 to say they got stuck on the Merrimack River’s buoys. WMUR reported that rescue crews found one person in the water when they arrived. They were able to help him out of the water and the others safely to shore.

Fire Chief James Burkush said the kayakers almost certainly would have drowned it they’d been pushed past the river buoys.
