Local “celebrities” will be paired with a “pro” dancer for Dancing with the Lake Sunapee Stars on Saturday. The evening of music and fancy footwork is a fundraiser for the Center for the Arts in New London.

For the last two months, the dancers have been practicing their routines.

Lynne Grinsell and Cheti Vincant Davis will perform a foxtrot and quickstep fusion to “Rhapsody in Blue.”

Shelly Hudson and Karim Chichakly will dance an East Coast Swing and Lindy Hop.

Brian Kellogg and Renee Patten will cha cha to “She Blinded Me with Science.”

Lyndsay Lund and Gary Stanhope will salsa to “Fireball.”

Caleb Parsons and Emily Swindell will dance the samba to “Aguas de Marco.”

Nic Malecha and Jorgie Ingram will jive to “Don’t Stop Me Now.”

A second act will feature a reunion dance by last year’s dancers and performances by the Kearsarge Conservatory of the Performing Arts under the direction of Angela Tarleton and Dance Arts Academy under the direction of Ashlee Rowley.

Judging the competition will be Heather Perkins Ogmundson of New London, last year’s winner of the People’s Choice Award; Kevin Tarleton from Kearsarge Conservatory of the Performing Arts in Warner; and Bob Williams, owner of Bubba’s Bar and Grill in Newbury. Wally Borgen will be returning as emcee.

In addition to dancing, there will be an auction, one online now at 32auctions.com/DWTLSS2018 and a silent auction Saturday night. All items not sold will be available for further bidding that night, too.

The opening reception begins at 5:30 p.m. with hor d’oeuvres and a cash bar. The dancing starts at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $30 in advance, $25 for Center for the Arts members or $35 at the door. Some $50 VIP tickets are available and include preferred seating and a post-show reception with the stars. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Morgan Hill Bookstore, the Tatewell Gallery or online at centerfortheartsnh.org.
