Dunbarton to discuss 8.2% proposed school budget increase

The Dunbarton School District will hold a public hearing on next year’s proposed school budget on Wednesday, allowing the public to weigh in on spending plans s before the annual meeting in March.

The proposed operating budget for the school district is $9.6 million, an 8.2% increase over the current budget. If the budget and warrant articles are passed, the estimated tax rate for the 2023-2024 school budget would be $19.45, an increase from the previous year’s $16.62, which would be a 17% increase.

Dunbarton, which uses a traditional town meeting system, will hold its school district annual meeting on March 11 for the public to vote on the budget and warrant articles.

The budget hearing will be held at Dunbarton Elementary School’s Library, 20 Robert Rogers Road, at 6 p.m.
