Falconer seeks aid in helping to find his trained falcon

Wednesday, February 28, 2018

A New Hampshire man says he’s lost his pet peregrine falcon and is hoping the next person who sees the female bird will help him bring his falcon home.

David Augusta, a falconer who trains bird of prey, says his unnamed falcon has been seen around the area of Portsmouth and Sandown. The falcon was hatched in the summer and imprinted on humans, so the bird is not an experienced hunter.

Augusta says the bird has been spotted and photographed, but not reported timely enough for him to find the falcon.

He says the falcon will not fly away if approached and can be identified by a tether attached to the bird’s leg.
