A 24-year-old Pittsfield man was killed in an accident on Interstate 93 Friday night involving an impaired driver from Franklin, police said.

Gabriel Anthony was pronounced dead at the scene of the two-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes of the highway around 10:30 p.m. in the town of Sanbornton.

Kristina Perry, 38, was charged by State Police with driving while intoxicated.

Police said Anthony’s Volkswagen Jetta was in the right-hand breakdown lane and he was out of his vehicle when he was struck from behind an Audi Q5 driven by Perry.

Troopers arrived to find the Audi approximately 20 feet down an embankment to the right and the Volkswagen Jetta approximately 100 feet south in the median.

Perry was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. She is being held without bail until her arraignment on Monday.

One lane of the highway was shut down for approximately six hours as authorities investigated the crash.
