Joan Forge, the winningest volleyball coach in New Hampshire high school history, has been named head coach of the Plymouth State University women’s volleyball team.

Forge has spent the past 42 years coaching high school, including 33 leading the Gilford girls’ volleyball program. Now, she returns to her alma mater.

“I’m looking forward to the next chapter in my coaching career,” Forge said, according to a press release. “What a wonderful opportunity for me to give back to Plymouth State; the school I graduated from and where I was a student-athlete.”

Forge, a three-sport star who was inducted into the university’s Hall of Fame in 2002, has been synonymous with success among the high school volleyball circuit. She owns state records with 15 state titles, a run of nine straight championships, a 92-match winning streak and 24 consecutive trips to the state semifinals. In her 33 years as a head volleyball coach her team has reached the state semifinals 30 times.
