A grand jury has indicted a Laconia man more than a year after authorities say he caused a head-on crash that seriously injured a man and his toddler.

James Willingham is charged with three counts of assault and three counts of aggravated DWI.

Police said Willingham had drugs in his system, including methamphetamine, at the time of the crash on Jan. 2, 2017.

The crash caused a brain injury to the toddler who was in a coma for two weeks. The girl has recovered.

The injured man, Brent Stranger, also suffered a brain injury and is unable to walk or speak. He is currently in a rehabilitation facility in Boston.

It was not immediately known if Willingham was represented by an attorney.
