Hot topic: The town will vote on an article to establish a Library Feasibility Expendable Trust Fund for the purpose of evaluating the feasibility of expanding and renovating the existing library in the Benjamin Smith Building. If approved, the town will raise and appropriate $50,000 to be placed in the fund. The select board recommends the proposal.

Budget: The proposed operating budget is $13.8 million, up from $135,510 from last year.

If approved, the tax rate will go up an estimated 19 cents per $1,000 assessed property value, which is about $38 on a $200,000 home.

Noteworthy articles:  Residents will vote to completely discontinue Leavitt Mountain Road as a public roadway from its start at Chemun Road to property owned by the Linda R. Lee Revocable Trust. If approved, this discontinuance will extinguish all public rights of access over that road, subject to the reservation of an easement to the town to be used solely for access to the historic Leavitt cemetery for maintenance purposes.

Contested races: None.

When and where: The town meeting will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Inter-Lakes High School. Ballot voting will be Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Meredith Community Center.
