The New London Barn Playhouse’s next performance tells the tale of the socialite with delusions of operatic grandeur.

Souvenir by Stephen Temperley is the story of Florence Foster Jenkins, played by Sara Schoch, a wealthy New York woman who desired to be a singing sensation despite an ear-splitting voice. The show is told through the viewpoint of her accompanist, Cosme McMoon, played by Raymond Sage.

David Edwards makes his Barn debut directing the musical.

Souvenir premiered on Broadway in 2005 and lead actress, Judy Kaye, earned a Tony nomination for Jenkins.

Souvenir has a one-weekend-only run from July 12 to 16 with showtimes at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 5 p.m. on Sunday. There will also be a 2 p.m. matinee on Wednesday.

Tickets range from $19.50 to $40, with student rush tickets available for $18. To purchase in advance, call 526-6710 or visit nlbarn.org.
