Support paid parental leave
You may be surprised to know that, unlike many large employers in our country, the federal government does not currently offer a single day of paid parental leave to its employees. And the United States is one of only three countries that doesn’t offer this benefit to its civil servants.
As the nation’s largest employer and a major contributor to the economy of New Hampshire, I think the federal government should provide paid parental leave in order to retain top employees, compete with the private sector and boost employee morale.
That is why I am calling on our members of Congress to support the Federal Employees Paid Parental Leave Act. Give federal workers a benefit that many employers in the private sector have used successfully to improve morale and retain talented employees. From supporting our troops to protecting us from threats of all kinds, federal employees are working on America’s behalf. Let’s support them with policies that allow them to succeed.
