Letter: Water the Penacook flowers

All over Concord and Penacook there are drinking water valves called blow-offs that are used to bring fresh water into pipes that may not see a lot of use, like dead-ends or loops with few houses. These blow-offs usually run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Blow-offs are not metered but I will bet it adds up to tens of millions of gallons a year flushed to waste.

The city charges for water used to bring some beauty into our downtown here in Penacook. I would think that if we can waste water to improve water quality, we can certainly afford to waste a little more growing flowers to make our city beautiful.
