The Boston Celtics have agreed to a one-year, $5 million contract with center Greg Monroe, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Monroe will clear waivers on Saturday after agreeing to a contract buyout with the Phoenix Suns. He was traded from the Milwaukee Bucks in a deal involving Eric Bledsoe earlier this season.

The 27-year-old was the No. 7 overall pick by Detroit in the 2010 NBA Draft and has averaged 13.9 points and 8.7 rebounds per game during his career.

He reportedly opted for the Celtics over the New Orleans Pelicans, who could only offer $2.2 million.
