Republican exceptionalism

Only the GOP would hold a beer bash to celebrate legislation that would deprive 24 million Americans of health care.

Only the GOP would use this same immoral legislation to give a $600 billion tax cut to the wealthiest 1 percent.

Only the GOP would consider citizens who want health care to be leaches (Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah: “Once the public is on the dole they’ll take every dime they can.” ).

Only the GOP would gut health care, then gut pollution laws, which will lead to people needing good health care to treat pollution-caused cancers and heart disease.

Only the GOP would gut regulations reining in Wall Street abuses even as they bitch about the slow recovery from the Great Recession, caused by Wall Street abuses.

Only the GOP would confirm as head of the “Justice” Department (Jeff Sessions) a man known as racist and who lied during his confirmation hearings about his contacts with Russians.

Only the GOP would stonewall investigations into Russian interference with our election, with the trail pointing to the White House. (Patriotism is a slogan, not a principle).

Only the GOP would staunchly support a president who views the Constitution as a hindrance, truths as inconveniences to be ignored, and despots as role models.

Yes, the Republicans are truly exceptional. Who else would aspire to reach the lowest moral, ethical, legal and patriotic standards possible, and be proud of their achievements.
