Following a community meet and greet event earlier this week, Marcy Kelley was selected as the new superintendent for schools in Bow and Dunbarton.

Kelley, who is currently the director of student services for the Bow and Dunbarton school districts, will take over from retiring Superintendent Dean Cascadden at the end of the school year.

“I’m beyond thrilled to be able to serve in this community and such an amazing administrative unit,” said Kelley, who has been with SAU 67 for four years. “I think it will be easier transitioning since I’ve been here already and because I know the wonderful initiatives we have going on.”

In September, Cascadden informed the school community of his plans to retire after 16 years in the position, which allowed school officials plenty of time to choose the next superintendent. A 20-member selection committee was established to represent various stakeholders in the district, including school board members, administrators, teachers, parents, support staff and a student from Bow High School.

The committee reviewed 11 qualified applicants and selected three finalists, According to Duane Ford, the district’s business administrator.

“We are excited and it’s going to be a change after quite some time,” said Ford. “We are excited to move forward.”

One of the finalists withdrew from the process, leaving Thomas Laliberte, the assistant superintendent in Bedford, as the remaining candidate.

When Kelley takes up her role as the superintendent for SAU 67 on July 1, she plans to spend more time at the buildings and classrooms getting to know the staff she doesn’t already know.
