A fun-filled Fourth

What a great Fourth of July celebration at Memorial Field! Nazzie and company from WLNH, and WJYY and company got the festivities off with his usual comedy and games.

We enjoyed an excellent concert by Nevers’ Band. This band has provided holiday music at Memorial Field since the late 1950s that I can remember as a small child. Kevin Martin, who was subbing for his dad, conducted the band and did a wonderful performance talking about the various songs that were being played. The fireworks was one of the biggest Fourth of July displays in years provided by Atlas Pyrotechnics. It was nice to see former Nevers’ Band member Priscilla Giles who retired this past year sitting in front of the band enjoying the concert. Tom Cusano and his assistants should be thanked for all the work they did with the bandwagon in getting the sound out to various parts of the park so everyone could hear the music and know what was happening.

Happy Fourth of July to everyone who made the the celebration a safe and happy one for everyone who attended.
