Wise, not cheap

I had to chuckle when reading the article regarding rotary phones in the March 6 edition of the Concord Monitor. The writer seems to think we retain our rotary phones because we are “too cheap” to buy a replacement.

Nothing could be further from the truth. We have a rotary phone we purchased from AT&T more than 20 years ago. We also have a digital phone with answering capabilities on a jack that provides wireless connection to three other phones in various locations around our home.

But, when we lose electricity, the digital phones die. My old faithful rotary phone just keeps chugging along and I can call out if needed. So maybe we are not so cheap, just smarter.
