A New Hampshire man and woman are dead after a 50-mile high-speed police pursuit of a suspected stolen pickup truck in Maryland, authorities said.

The high-speed pursuit ended when the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado, 28-year-old Stephen Reinholz of Laconia, lost control, sending the truck into a guardrail and down an embankment.

Both Reinholz and a passenger, 28-year-old Kaili Pierce of Concord, died at the scene, officials said.

Officials announced Monday that the Maryland Transportation Authority Police tried to stop the Silverado on Sunday morning, which was reported stolen by the Laconia Police Department on Friday.

The chase began on Interstate 95 just north of the Fort McHenry Tunnel in the Baltimore area. The driver failed to stop, leading police on a pursuit for about 50 miles into northeastern Maryland.
