120 volunteers came to Live and Let Live Farm for Granite United Way’s Day of Caring

For Live and Let Live’s founder and Executive Director Teresa Paradis, the post-COVID world has been a struggle to find volunteers, even a year and a half out from the pandemic.

All that changed on Wednesday as 120 volunteers descended on the rescue farm in Chichester, as help from the Granite United Way’s Day of Caring came to muck out stalls, paint fences and garden the property.

“With the shortage of volunteers since COVID, it’s amazing. It feels like life is coming back. It’s just been just a mental disaster for people and the ripple effects of COVID have cut us way back on volunteers. United Way, they are a great organization. We’re gonna have over 120 volunteers here today at the farm rescue from gardening to painting to helping care for animals. It’s endless and they’re all very ambitious and we’re just all excited. It just feels like a rebirth today.”

For Erin Holt of Northeast Delta Dental, volunteering for United Way is part of the culture for both her organization and for her personally.

“We’re really committed to just making sure the organizations that benefit our community have the support they need. So our organization has always been a huge supporter of community events, especially the United Way,” she said. “Because giving back has always been one of our priorities. And for me, personally, it’s just something that if I have the time to do it, I’m going to do it.”

After all of Granite United Way’s Day of Caring events take place throughout their seven regions this month, more than 3,000 volunteers will have been mobilized to help local nonprofits.
