Hot topic: The town is looking to purchase a new highway vehicle at $141,447 this year, with the bulk of the funds to come from general taxation. About $40,000 will come from the Equipment Capital Reserve Fund if approved. This article is unanimously recommended by the select board.

Budget: The proposed operating budget is $1.44 million, up from $1.38 million, an increase of 3.74 percent from last year.

Town Administrator Nancy Bates declined to say how much the budget is projected to impact the tax rate. This year’s tax rate is $24.29 per $1,000 of assessed property value.

Noteworthy articles: The only article not recommended by the select board is Article 21, which would sell the Old Highway Garage at 7 Pedrick Road. Funds from the sale would go into the town’s general fund.

Unpaved roads will get $100,000 worth of work if voters approve Article 9. This is a non-lapsing article and will not lapse until either the work is completed or December 31, 2022, whichever happens first. This article is unanimously recommended by the select board.

When and where: The town meeting will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Wilmot Town Hall. Ballot voting will be Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Wilmot Town Hall.
