Bimbo Bakeries USA has permanently closed 28 of its outlet stores in the East, including all remaining New Hampshire locations.

“Company processes have shifted and product will be redistributed to other locations,” the company said in a statement. “Moving forward, we will focus on donating any limited extra product to local food bank partners.”

Concord’s location on at 184 Loudon Road closed back in November 2019, ending the days of 99-cent loaves of bread on Tuesdays and other discounts throughout the week. It had been a popular destination for immigrant families at the time and was open six days a week.

The store wasn’t an actual bakery, but would sell a variety of Bimbo products.

Bimbo Bakeries USA is part of the larger Grupo Bimbo family of companies, originally founded in Mexico City, Mexico in 1945.

The company owns many well-known grocery store brands. Thomas’, Sara Lee, Arnold bread, Entenmann’s, Freihofer’s and Little Bites are all Bimbo brands, as well as Boboli and Ball Park buns and rolls.

The then-manager of the Hooksett location, Linda Perkins, said at the the time that the Concord store was shuttered due to lack of sales and only received one shipment daily. In comparison, the Hooksett location had a distribution facility attached and products were going in and out throughout the day.

The former Concord location now houses a Smoker Choice, which sells vape and tobacco products.
