Kenneth Holmes has been named president of North Branch Construction Inc. of Henniker. Holmes joined North Branch in 1989 as a project manager and has been general manager of the company since 1996. Robert Smith, who recently celebrated his 30th anniversary with the company, will continue to serve as chief executive officer.

John Duval of the Concord Police Department was recently promoted to major. He was most recently assigned to the Career Development Unit, where he oversaw the recruitment, hiring and training of all personnel. He will now oversee the Bureau of Patrol Services.

Liz Murphy, Henry Veilleux and Kathleen Veracco, formerly of Murphy Public Affairs, have joined Bruce Berke and Valerie Acres in a new partnership at Sheehan Phinney Capitol Group.
Acres served as legal counsel to Gov. Judd Gregg and practiced law in New Hampshire for four years before devoting her time exclusively to government relations. She has represented clients before the state legislature and regulatory agencies since 1995. Her primary focus is on health-care, insurance and human resource issues for a number of associations and companies.

Murphy began Elizabeth Murphy Associates in 1991 (later becoming Murphy Public Affairs Inc.). From 1986 to 1990, she represented a variety of clients as vice president of BMc Strategies. Prior to joining BMc Strategies, Murphy was government relations consultant to the BIA.
