The state and local police are investigating two shots that were fired in Hill on Sunday night during disputes at two residences. No one was injured at either location, Trooper Joshua Beauchemin said.

Beauchemin said he could release only limited details because the incidents remain under investigation.

The disturbance began about 7 p.m. at 31 Range Road after Jennifer Doherty, 28, of Franklin went to the residence, the police said. A dispute followed, and a single gunshot was fired.

Beauchemin declined to say who fired the gun or who was involved in the dispute.

Doherty left that home and went to 217 Currier Road, the police said. Another woman, Dereyln Padula, 40, followed Doherty to the Currier Road address, the police said. An altercation followed there, and another shot was fired, the police said.

Beauchemin again declined to say who fired the second gunshot or who was involved in the dispute. He said he was still determining what triggered it.

Doherty has been charged with driving while intoxicated, Beauchemin said.

Neither she nor anyone else has been charged in connection with the gunshots, he said.

Beauchemin said Padula and Doherty are acquaintances but not friends. Beauchemin said the Currier Road address was home to a boyfriend of one of the women, but he declined to be more specific. The Range Road address is listed as belonging to Padula.

Neither Padula nor Doherty could be reached yesterday.
