Duped by Hodes?

June 23, 2007 - 12:00 am

In September 2006 Congressman Paul Hodes participated in a candidate forum in Hill.

That night, I asked the congressman if he supported HR 676, a universal health care package introduced to the house by Congressman John Conyers in 2005. Congressman Hodes stated he did not know anything about the bill, but he would look into it to see if it warranted his support.

Well, sir, it's been nine months, and still you have not endorsed the bill. How much longer do you wish to stall before making a decision on whether all Americans deserve consistent access to health care regardless of their medical history, employment, marital or economic statuses?

We elected you because we were under the impression you stood for values based on equality. Were we duped?

MICHELLE CUNHA

Hill
