A Monitor article on Dec. 18, headlined "Audubon loses its president," stated that new Hampshire Audubon is eliminating policy work. In fact, this is not the case.

Although New Hampshire Audubon has not had a policy director for several years, staff scientists have continued to represent the interests of the organization on state policy working groups and technical committees.

An active environmental policy committee, with members representing the board of trustees, staff and membership, reviews and prepares testimony for proposed legislation of interest.

The coming change of leadership will not effect the organization's efforts to encourage sound state policy regarding natural resources, wildlife habitat and other environmental issues.
