Brady Maloney, 3, tells ballot clerk Sandy Nelson his age as his mom, Jennifer, completes paperwork in Sutton yesterday.

Many of the folks who went to the polls yesterday made up their minds in the past few days. Some said they didn't decide on a candidate until they got in the voting booth. Here's what some of those conflicted late deciders had to say yesterday:

Bill Short, 77, Concord

Voted for Huckabee

"I don't want (Mitt) Romney to win this thing, (so) I voted for Huckabee because he's a born-again Christian. With the guitar, he's a little loosey-goosey, but he's a lot better than governor Romney."

Angeline Obara, 37, Weare

Voted for McCain

"It was a toss-up because I really like Huckabee. If he was doing better in the polls, I would have thought about it. I didn't want to see Romney get in."

Patti Smith, 55, Hopkinton

Voted for Obama

"I walked in and went up and down, and I said, okay, I'm going to be hopeful and positive. (Hillary Clinton) knows how to get things done, but I wanted to show the young people today that there is hope."

George Duley, 88, Concord

Voted for Clinton

"She has a good chance of getting good people to support her (in office), good Cabinet members."

Mark Chiarenza, 43, Franklin

Voted for Romney
