Sidewalk will reopen this summer

July 18, 2008 - 7:11 am

It's been more than two years since pedestrians could walk down the sidewalk near P&N Automotive on Pleasant Street without a slight detour. One local resident asked the Monitor: When will the closed sidewalk reopen?

According to City Engineer Ed Roberge, the box culvert under Pleasant Street, where Bow Brook crosses, washed out during the floods in May 2006. The city successfully applied for federal relief funds, developed plans, and is in the process of final review and approval by state and federal agencies.

The city hopes to replace both that box culvert and another one under Warren Street this summer.
