John Hutson, dean of Concord's Franklin Pierce Law Center, will speak from the Democratic National Convention tonight during a prime time slot. Look for him after Virginia Governor Mark Warner speaks and shortly before Sen. Hillary Clinton takes the stage.
Hutson, a lifelong Republican who is retired from the Navy, was chosen because he's been vocal about his frustrations with President Bush's decision to go to war in Iraq and the Bush administration use of controversial interrogation techniques.
Now a Democrat, Hutson voted for Barack Obama in the primary.
Hutson is scheduled to speak at 9:45 p.m. Eastern time. Convention coverage can be found on the networks or at C-SPAN, which is reportedly carrying the remarks without commentary. The Pierce Law website suggests C-SPAN as for a guaranteed view of Hutson's three minutes on the stage.
His remarks will also be available on the convention's website at demconvention.com. Tomorrow's Monitor will have an interview with Hutson.
