Sally (Rizzo) Sullivan, 80, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at Concord Hospital.
Sally was born in East Boston, the daughter of the late Vito and Grace (DeVingo) Rizzo. She was a graduate of St. John's High School. Class of 1946.
She had worked as an executive secretary for the New Hampshire Real Estate Appraisal Board until her retirement in 2003. She had previously worked for the New Hampshire Board of Education and for 13 years as a life insurance agent in Concord for MetLife and Aetna. She spent eight years working for Boston Mutual Insurance in Hawaii.
Sally was a lifetime volunteer at the Concord Hospital, a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and a member of the Carmelite Guild, the Concord Association of Life Underwriters and the Merrimack Valley Basketball League. She was the executive director of the New Hampshire Association of Life Underwriters and a member of the Vietnam Widows Association. She served on the committee for the Concord Housing Authority, and she worked as a church organist for more than 30 years in Concord and Hawaii Catholic churches. She was a communicant at St. Peter's Church in Concord. Sally was a proud supporter of Bishop Brady High School.
She was predeceased by her husband, Allan F. Sullivan, who died in 1968, and her son, Stanley Sullivan.
Sally is survived by her two sons, Timothy P. Sullivan and his wife, Danielle, of Tannum Sands, Queensland, Australia, and Stephen F. Sullivan; two daughters, Alana S. Barchey and her husband, Louis, of Penacook, and Denise S. Lazott and her husband, Richard, of Candia; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Salvi J. Rizzo of Concord; two sisters, Lucy G. Harrison of Concord, and Josephine R. Catalino of Rye; and nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends worldwide.
Visiting hours will be held tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 S. Main St., Concord.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, 135 N. State St., Concord. The Rev. Anthony Kuzia will be the celebrant.
Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Concord.
