The city council in Laconia is moving forward with plans to allow vendors to set up a day early for this year's Bike Week rally.

The annual biker gathering is set for June 13-21. But the City Council wants to change the city's special events ordinance to allow vendors to start selling their wares on June 12. The early birds would be charged an extra $50, which would help offset the cost of providing municipal services.

City Manager Eileen Cabanel opposes the change. She says many residents don't want the rally to spread beyond its nine-day duration.
