SOUTH DANBURY - Lawrence "Larry" E. Shedd, 49, of the Blue Moon Farm, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, from a drowning accident at Quansoo Beach while vacationing with his wife in Chilmark, Martha's Vineyard, Mass.

He was born in Concord on Sept. 9, 1959, a son of Deane and Karlene (Skoldberg) Shedd. Larry lived in Andover for most of his life, and he schooled there and at Kearsarge Regional High School in Sutton. He enjoyed spending time at his camp at Maidstone Lake in Vermont. Larry was a self-employed finish carpenter and craftsman. He had a love for life and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Andover Snowmobile Club and Maidstone Lake Association in Vermont. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Larry was predeceased by a brother, Daniel D. Shedd, in 2005.

His family includes his wife, Jeannette F. (Davis) Shedd of South Danbury; sons Tucker Peters and Eli Shedd, both of South Danbury; daughter Haley Peters of South Danbury; brothers Andrew Shedd of Salt Lake City and Anthony Shedd and Joseph Shedd of Jessup, Pa.; sisters, Debbie Anderson of Bedford, Emily Shedd and Heather Shedd of Philadelphia, and Julie Shedd of Montrose, Pa.; his mother, Karlene (Skoldberg) Anderson of Bedford; his father and stepmother, Deane and Joyce (Stafford) Shedd of Montrose; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 6 to 8 p.m. at William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road, Tilton.

A celebration of Larry's life will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Thompson Point at Highland Lake in East Andover.

Burial will follow at Proctor Cemetery in Andover.

Larry's family suggests that donations be made in his name to Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Hampshire, 814 Elm St., Suite 300, Manchester 03101.
