A 41-year-old Colebrook man is recovering after shooting himself in the foot while grouse hunting.

New Hampshire Fish and Game officials identified the hunter as Allen Williams. The accident happened Tuesday afternoon in Pittsburg. Officials said Williams stumbled and the 12-gauge shotgun he was carrying discharged. A round went into his foot. A companion drove him to a hospital.

He is being treated at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
