No. 4 UNH (5-0) at No. 18 Massachusetts (3-2)

WHEN: 3:30 p.m., McGuirk Stadium, Amherst, Mass.

ON THE AIR: Comcast Sports New England, WGIR (610 AM), WNTK (99.7 FM)

THE SERIES: UMass leads, 42-26-3

LAST TIME OUT: UNH beat then-No. 2 Villanova, 28-24. UMass lost to Delaware, 43-27.

BRIEFLY: There's Dartmouth and Maine, but UMass has moved to the top of UNH's rivalry list in recent years as the two teams have battled for supremacy in the CAA North Division. The Wildcats hammered UMass last year in Durham, 52-21, to break a three-game Minutemen winning streak in the series. And the 'Cats will be favorites this year, but chances are this will be a tight game in which one or two plays will make the difference. New Hampshire's primary playmaker, quarterback R.J. Toman, added a right ankle injury last week against Villanova to the right big toe injury he already had, but Toman, who fought through both injuries to play the full game against 'Nova, said he expects to play tomorrow. He'll be facing a defense that has undergone some slight tweaks after the departure of Head Coach Don Brown (now the defensive coordinator at Maryland), but "they still have the same mentality where they fly around and they love to hit," Toman said. On the other side, the Minutemen lean on Water Payton Award candidate Tony Nelson, the CAA's leading rusher at 93.8 yards per game. He'll be facing a UNH defense that allows just 99.2 rushing yards per game, 25th in the country. UMass also had to replace Liam Coen, a four-year starter, this year, but that transition was smoothed as offensive coordinator Kevin Morris took over as head coach and junior Kyle Havens has stepped in and produced 249.8 passing yards per game, second in the CAA. But he has thrown just as many picks as touchdowns (seven), and that could mean trouble against a UNH defense that is third in the nation in passes intercepted with 11.

UNH KEY OFFENSIVE PLAYERS: R.J. Toman, QB, jr., 56-for-99, 753 yards, 4 TD, 4 INT; Chad Kackert, RB, sr., 45 carries, 169 yards, 4 TD; Scott Sicko, TE, sr., 15 catches, 238 yards, 2 TD; Sean Jellison, RB, jr., 65 carries, 277 yards, 3 TD.

UMASS KEY OFFENSIVE PLAYERS: Tony Nelson, RB, sr., 84 carries, 375 yards, 2 TD; Kyle Havens, QB, jr., 88-for-156, 1,249 yards, 7 TD, 7 INT; Victor Cruz, 23 catches, 400 yards, 3 TD.

UNH KEY DEFENSIVE PLAYERS: Devon Jackson, LB, jr., 34 tackles, 4 TFL, 2 sacks; Sean Ware, LB, sr., 33 tackles, 3 TFL; Dino Vasso, jr., CB, 24 tackles, 3 INT.

UMASS KEY DEFENSIVE PLAYERS: Jeromy Miles, FS, sr., 35 tackles, 2 INT; Tyler Holmes, ILB, so., 45 tackles, 2 INT; Michael Hanson, DE, sr., 27 tackles, 6 TFL, 2.5 sacks.

UNH STATISTICS: 35.2 points per game; 356 yards per game; 15 ppg allowed; 238.4 ypg allowed.

UMASS STATISTICS: 32.4 ppg; 406.6 ypg; 19.6 ppg allowed; 304.4 ypg allowed.
