Jonathan Bernier made 40 saves and Andre Loktionov and John Zeiler scored goals as the Manchester Monarchs beat the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, 2-0, in Manchester last night.
Zeiler broke a scoreless deadlock 9:23 into the second period with his first goal of the season, assisted by Brandon Segal and Marc-Andre Cliche. Loktionov added an insurance goal at 10:47 of the third period, scoring his fifth goal of the season with assists from Oscar Moller and Thomas Hickey.
Bernier made 18 saves in the third period to preserve the shutout and help the Monarchs improve to 6-2-0, best in the AHL's Atlantic Division.
Manchester plays host to the Providence Bruins - the top affiliate of the Boston Bruins - tonight at 7.
