JV results

The Concord JV boys' soccer team went 2-1 in the Nashua JV tournament yesterday, beating Alvirne, 4-0, and Merrimack, 1-0, before falling to Pinkerton, 1-0, on the eighth shooter of a sudden-death shootout. Noah Bunnell and Adam Berger each scored two goals during the tournament, Taylor Gosse and Drake Lessard played well, and goalie Christian Bashios turned in a phenomenal effort.

• The MV JV boys' soccer team lost its last game of the year to Plymouth, 2-1. Corey Mitchell scored early in the first half for a 1-0 MV lead that stayed that way for most of the game. In the middle of the second half Plymouth got two goals. Cam Bailey, Josh Lambert and Seth Foote played well for MV.

• The Pembroke JV girls' soccer team beat Lebanon, 5-1, on Friday to end its season with a 9-6-2 record. PA had three different goal-scorers in the win.

Crew results

The Derryfield School crew team competed in the Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga, N.Y. The Derryfield men's first boat (Matthew Porat, Max Nagle, Jake Harward, Ian Will, coxed by Jamie Cordova) took 14th place with a time of 12:01.48. The men's second boat (Brandon Wilson, Reed Gilroy, Harry Burnham, Zack Chin, coxed by Jenn Mendelbaum) finished with a time of 12:16.51. In women's junior fours, Derryfield's first varsity boat (Heather Monty, Maddie Kramer, Zoe Sobin, Lucy Steer, coxed by Aran Hubbell) finished in fifth place out of 25 with a time of 13:06.7. The women's second boat (Erin Ferguson, Mariel McLeod, Emmy Lamp, Mia Sobin, coxed by Phil Melanson) finished with a time of 13:55.63.

Youth football

The Concord Capitols middle school football team beat Hollis/Brookline, 24-12, in playoff action yesterday. Concord had two touchdowns by QB Marc Gaudette and another on a 91-yard run by Martin Toe. On defense, Nick Comeau blocked a punt while Matt Campbell and Logan Lamoureux held the middle and Terrance Sylvestre covered the passes. Concord advances to the division finals against Pembroke next Sunday.

Youth hockey

The Concord Capitals U19 girls' split-season team defeated Charles River, Mass., 4-2. Erica Simpson, Hope DuHaime, Melissa Lehtinen and Sky Stavros scored Concord's goals. Ashley Liotti and Josette Hejka kept Charles River at bay in the defensive end. The Lady Capitals also beat the Marlborough Lady Flames, 5-1. Stavros got Concord going to tie the game at 1-1. From there, Molly Presson, Haley Dutille along with Lehtinen and Simpson scored. Courtney Popsie had an assist and played a strong game at both ends of the ice.

• The Capital Area Dentistry PW2 Caps recorded a 2-1 win against first-place Rochester in GSL action Saturday. Erik Swenson recorded both goals on assists from Hannah Brochu. Nick and Sammy Benoit, and Kyle Milne were strong on defense.

• The Capital Area Dentistry PW2 Caps had a 2-0 win over Winthrop in Valley League action Saturday. Paul Wiley scored both goals and Colin Holt picked up his first shutout of the year. Sam Benoit and John Moore assisted on the goals.

• The Concord U14W AT&T Wireless girls' hockey team lost to Assabet U14 Blue, 4-1. Hannah Hirschfeld scored Concord's only goal. Also playing well offensively were Sara Lachapelle and Meg Ficarra. Goalie Allyson LeFebvre turned away 20 shots, while substitute Paige Patterson turned away nine shots. The Capitals also lost to Charles River U14, 3-0. Concord's offense was led by Arianna Harris and Angelina Stewart. Elizabeth Donlon, Emily Scheer and Stasia Bogacz held Charles River scoreless for two periods before giving up three power-play goals.

• The Concord Capitals Squirt 1 team fell to the Manchester Flames Squirt Major team, 3-1. The lone goal was scored by Connor Beatty with an assist by Connor Sackos. Nick Stiles was strong in net. The Squirt 1 team held off the NH East Squirt 1 team, 4-3. Andy Cole, Beatty, Ethan Donlon and Chase Mercier led the offense with a goal each. Stiles and Joel Boulanger defended the net with a combined 17 saves.
