Voters in Manchester have elected Republican Ted Gatsas as their next mayor.
The alderman and state senator defeated Democrat Mark Roy in yesterday's election in Manchester.
Gatsas took all wards with 10,660 votes. Roy got 8,144 votes, according to unofficial results.
Gatsas said his diverse business background and his legislative experience made him the best candidate.
The two aldermen disagreed strongly on the city budget this year. Gatsas said it maintained city services in the face of less local aid and state revenue, but Roy had said the budget hurt everyone, particularly schoolchildren.
Manchester voters also approved a charter amendment capping taxes and spending, with the backing of voters everywhere but Ward 3.
