November 15, 2009 - 12:00 am

Eric Ward threw two touchdown passes and four different Richmond players had rushing scores as the Spiders routed Georgetown, 49-10, yesterday.

Richmond (9-1, 6-1 Colonial Athletic Association) remains in a three-way tie for first place in the CAA South with Villanova and William & Mary. The Spiders host William & Mary next Saturday with at least a share of the conference title at stake.

The Spiders pulled away on Tremayne Graham's 94-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Northeastern 14, Hofstra 11

John Griffin carried the ball 28 times for 140 yards and a touchdown, and Jason Vega made a career-high 12 tackles with 1.5 sacks to lead Northeastern to a win over Hofstra.

Maine 41, Rhode Island 17

Chris Treister threw for 461 yards and five touchdowns, while Landis Williams made 17 catches for 220 yards to lead the Black Bears to a rout over Rhode Island.

Villanova 49, Towson 7

Third-ranked Villanova (9-1, 6-1 CAA) was off to the races early on and never looked back in a rout of Towson (2-8, 1-6 CAA).

The Wildcats scored on all five of their drives in the first half and led 35-0 at the intermission along the way to their fourth straight win.

James Madison 17, Massachusetts 14

Jamaris Sanders returned a fumble 38-yards for six of James Madison's 10 points off turnovers in a win over Massachusetts.

Boston College 14, Virginia 10

Dave Shinskie admitted to being somewhat rattled, if only for a moment, after an interception he threw erased Boston College's lead against Virginia.

Then he bounced back the way he knew he needed to, leading the Eagles on a 70-yard drive that ended with his 1-yard touchdown run on fourth down in their victory.
