Lego for it

Come see some super-cool Lego creations at Bishop Brady High School on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The school's robotics team is sponsoring a Lego tournament, creating real-world engineering challenges for elementary and middle-school students. Once upon a time . . .

It's storytime at the NHTI library this weekend. Guests can munch cookies and hear six different storytellers tell tales ranging from humorous to heartfelt. The event, part of a national celebration of storytelling called Tellebration, takes place Saturday at 7:30. Admission is by donation. For more information, call 224-0709.

Harriet Reisen will be at Gibson's bookstore tonight at 7 to talk about her new biography of Little Women author Louisa May Alcott. She'll be joined by Nancy Porter, director of the American Masters film on PBS based on the book. For those whose taste run more toward the silly, children's book author and illustrator David Elliot will be at the store on Saturday at 3 p.m. to talk about his new book, Finn Throws a Fit. Get crafty

Popular designer, stylist, author and magazine editor Matthew Mead will offer a workshop on holiday decorating at the Pleasant View Retirement Home today at 1 p.m. Mead will create several elegant tabletop and wall decorations for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday, which will be sold at a benefit auction at the end of his presentation. A high tea will follow the event. The event is sponsored by the Concord Garden Club and is free to members. Admission is $5 for non-members. For more information, call 746-4315.

Homecoming party

MainStreet BookEnds in Warner will host a homecoming celebration for National Book Award finalist David Carroll tomorrow night at 7 p.m. Carroll will talk about his experiences in New York City mingling with renowned members of the literary world.
