Lies and deceit from neo-conservatives

November 20, 2009 - 12:00 am

The brutal murder of 13 people at Fort Hood was immediately condemned by Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan's own family and by Muslims throughout the United States. This didn't prevent prominent right-wingers like Pat Robertson, Sean Hannity, Jonah Goldberg, Charles Krauthammer and many others from demagoguing the tragedy.

Robertson, an unabashed bigot, denies that Islam is even a religion and advocates treating its millions of adherents in this country who happen to be our fellow citizens as pariahs, enemies of the state.

Hannity, a buffoon and talk show host on Fox, outrageously implied that President Obama is to blame for the killings. Goldberg doesn't take that lunatic position but he eagerly says Obama will "pay a political price" because of the heinous crime. Goldberg goes on to falsely accuse the Obama administration of "dismantling" the war against al-Qaida and its allies.

Krauthammer makes the absurd argument that Hasan would have been stopped if his colleagues hadn't become captive of and victimized by "Islamophobia," a fictitious political correctness.

Scapegoating one of the world's great religions for the evident failures of individuals and the government bureaucracy to hold Hasan accountable for his bizarre behaviors is deplorable, but it does expose Kruthammer's vicious antipathy toward Islam.

The neo-conservatives brought us 9/11 and needless death to innumerable people, including our soldiers. Don't be fooled by their lies, deceit and perverted view of history.
