HEALTHSOUTH REHABILITATION HOSPITAL in Concord received the Hospital of the Year award at the nationwide network's annual meeting in Albuquerque, N.M. The hospital also received the Northeast Regional Clinical Excellence award. The HealthSouth network includes 100 hospitals in 26 states and Puerto Rico.
THE MEREDITH VILLAGE SAVINGS BANK FUND has awarded a $5,000 grant to FIRST FRUITS FOOD PANTRY of Sanbornton. The grant will help build a permanent space for the pantry, which has outgrown its location in the Sanbornton town hall. First Fruits serves families from Belmont, Sanbornton, Tilton and Northfield.
NEW HAMPSHIRE PUBLIC TELEVISION received a first place award and five merit awards at the New Hampshire Association of Broadcasters annual Golden Mike ceremony in Concord. NHPTV received a first place award for documentary news for its "Making $ense: The Economy and Northern New England" special. NH Outlook received a documentary story merit award for "Including Samuel" and a public affairs talk show merit award for a story about lawmakers debating the legalization of medical marijuana and the debate over same-sex marriage in New Hampshire. "Windows to the Wild," NHPTV's nature program, won a feature merit award for "Soaring Thermals." Additionally, NHPTV received a merit award for Station of the Year and was recognized with a merit award for its website, nhptv.org.
THE NEW HAMPSHIRE FOOD BANK received a $50,000 donation from the BANK OF AMERICA CHARITABLE FOUNDATION that funded the purchase of 77,828 pounds of holiday meal items to provide 60,803 meals for the hungry this Thanksgiving.
GILBANE BUILDING CO.'S NORTHERN NEW ENGLAND DISTRICT office raised $8,000 with its first charity golf classic to benefit the NEW HAMPSHIRE FOOD BANK.
ASSOCIATED GROCERS OF NEW ENGLAND donated $5,000 to VETERANS COUNT NEW HAMPSHIRE. The gift was through Community Connections, an employee-based charitable fund. Veterans Count provides financial assistance to veterans and their families.
