Boscawen

Poker tournament: The Concord Boys & Girls Club will hold a Texas Hold 'Em poker tournament Thursday from 6 to 11 p.m. at Alan's Restaurant. The cost for "buy in" is $100 in advance or $125 at the door. First place wins up to $2,500, with prizes for the top 10. Proceeds will benefit the club's after-school programs. Canterbury

Historical society presentation: The Canterbury Historical Society will present "Why Organic? What Is It All About?"Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Parish House.

Center Harbor

Public office hours: A member of Congressman Jeb Bradley's staff will hold public office hours tomorrow from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the town offices. Residents with comments or concerns and those who need help with a federal matter are invited. To schedule an appointment or for more information, call 641-9536.

'Toddler Tales':"Toddler Tales," a program for children ages 2 to 3½ and their parents, will be held Tuesdays through Nov. 9 at 10 a.m. in the Concord Public Library auditorium. For more information, call 230-3690.

Center for Health Promotion: Concord Hospital's Center for Health Promotion will offer the following programs:

"Freedom from Smoking," eight sessions starting Oct. 12 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The cost is $75.

"Parenting for Prevention," Thursdaythrough Oct. 14. The cost is $40.

"Why Weight?" weight loss/nutrition class, 10-week sessions. The cost is $169.

"Quick and Easy Meals," Oct. 5 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $19.

"Curbing Carb Confusion," Oct. 19from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $29.

"Mindful-Based Stress Reduction,"Wednesdays through Oct. 27 and Nov. 3through Dec. 15 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The cost is $99.
