'Take-A-Hike': The Expedition Inspiration Fund for Breast Cancer Research will hold its New Hampshire "Take-A-Hike"Oct. 10 at Mount Major, with registration at 9 a.m. and the hike at 10 a.m. The registration fee is $20 in advance or $25 after Monday. Poker tournament: The Concord Boys & Girls Club will hold a Texas Hold 'Em poker tournament tomorrow from 6 to 11 p.m. at Alan's Restaurant. The cost for "buy in" is $100 in advance or $125 at the door. First place wins up to $2,500, with prizes for the top 10. Proceeds will benefit the club's after-school programs. Pancake breakfast: As part of her senior project, Christina Aurilio will hold a pancake breakfast Saturday from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Bow Community Building. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. The cost is $5, $3 for seniors and children 9 and younger.

Parks and Recreation programs: The Bow Parks and Recreation Department will offer the following programs:

Dance lessons, for ages 3 through grade 7, Mondays. Lessons in tap, ballet, creative movement and jazz are available.

"Getting Jiggy With It," for grades 7 through 12, Fridays from Oct. 1 through Nov. 12 from 5 to 6 p.m.

"Learn to Draw," for ages 8 to 13, Tuesdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Brush and leaf disposal: The Brush Dump on Allen Road will accept cuttings no longer than 4 feet with a diameter of no more than 5 inches thick. The dump is open Saturday, Oct. 9 and Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call the Department of Public Works at 228-2207.

Leaves and similar yard recyclables can be taken to Lewis Farm, 192A Silk Farm Road, Concord, which is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, call Lewis Farm at 228-6230.

Historical society presentation: The Canterbury Historical Society will present "Why Organic? What is It All About?"tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. at the Parish House.
