PEMBROKE -- Dr. Eugene F. Mallove, 56, of Rebecca's Way, died Friday in Norwich, Conn.
He was born in Norwich, Conn., the son of Mitchell and Gladys (Alexander) Mallove.
He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in environmental health science from Harvard University.
He had lived in New Hampshire for many years.
Mallove worked in the private sector and was MIT's chief science writer before becoming president of the New Energy Foundation of Concord. He was also the editor-in-chief of the foundation's magazine, Infinite Energy.
He wrote many scientific books and articles, including Fire From Ice: Searching For the Truth Behind the Cold Fusion Furor,which was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.
He was a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the American Association for Advancement of Science, the Society for Scientific Exploration and the American Chemical Society. He was a past fellow of the British Interplanetary Society.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Joanne (Smith) Mallove of Pembroke; a son, Ethan Mallove of Lee; a daughter, Kimberlyn Woodard of Renton, Wash.; his mother, of Pembroke; and a grandson.
Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Temple Beth Jacob, 67 Broadway, Concord.
Rabbi Richard Klein will officiate.
Burial will follow at Beth Jacob Cemetery in Concord.
Waters Funeral Home in Concord is in charge of the arrangements.
